You can now start a public discussion group at the OnlineGroups.Net site. They are free for up to 100 members. Of course, having groups on a site of your own has the advantage that you can control the context of your groups. Your groups have a site to themselves. The site has its own domain and you can change the site title and introduction text, and even add a logo. Here's a site created just yesterday. http://oas.onlinegroups.net/ You can still start a site, and start groups on it, but if you'd prefer to create a group on our site, even just to try it out, log in and then visit the following page. http://onlinegroups.net/products/start_group/ You can only create public groups on the OnlineGroups.Net site, but you can add up to 100 members, and post as much as you like, for free. There are a some new groups here already. http://onlinegroups.net/groups/ If you have any questions or comments about this, post them here.
On 11 March I announced free public discussion groups for up to 100 members, on this site. Since then we've switched that off. You can now only start groups once you have started a site. http://onlinegroups.net/sites/start_a_site/ I apologise for any confusion created by that. The good news is that on a Free Site, you can have as many public groups as you like, with as many members as you like.
