Editing Group Members' Email Addresses

A site admin asked me the following question.
If a group member has changed their email address,
and forgotten their password, they can't log in to
add the new address to their profile.
Can a group admin view and edit a user's email address?
The answer is currently no. Users' email addresses can not be edited by the
group admin.
The system works in this way to prevent the system being used for spam, or
other kinds of nefarious use. As an example, if an ill-intentioned
administrator could add an email address to a user's account, they could reset
the password, remove the account owner's actual address, and then gain access
to the groups and sites administered by that user.
This system has the down-side that if a user loses both their password, and
access to the only email address associated with their account, then they lose
access to their account.
We do plan to add a feature that allow admins to assist in this situation, but
that is some time off. For now, users have no option but to create a new
account.
Currently, users email addresses can not be viewed by the group admin, even
when an admin has uploaded the email addresses to send invitations to join a
group. This is one of the known problems with the "Manage Members" page, that
we plan to address relatively soon.
