Hi
Couple questions. How do I give a couple of my members the ability to manage
the group and to moderate messages? If I do that for the primary group, is it
effective across all sub-groups, or do I need to do each of them separately?
Also, do I have to invite people to be new members, or can I just add them in
if I know they want to be members. I'd be moving a large number of people from
MSNGroups doing it myself would be much more efficient.
Finally (for now) can I (and other managers) change things like a member's
email address?
Hi Pete,

A site administrator can make any group member a group admin. A group admin can
make any member a moderator. This is all done in "manage members", part of the
group admin area.

I'm not sure what you mean by "primary group". You have a site, which can have
any number of groups, that are all at the same level in the site structure. The
only special role that applies site-wide is site administrator. So you need to
assign admin and moderator privileges to users for each group that you create
on your site.

Group members can easily register themselves on your site and groups, and you
can _invite_them to join your groups. We do not provide a way to "just add"
people to groups, as we could not prevent this from being used to add people
who do not want to join a group. The invitation process is simple and does some
important things.
1: Ensures that each invitee explicitly agrees to join the group.
2: Ensures that the invitee can receive email from our site.
3: Gives the invitee the opportunity to create a profile and set a password.

Again, unfortunately we can not yet enable group admins to do that while
preventing the use of this for spamming people or breaching system integrity.
We do however see this as an important problem to solves and we are expecting
to introduce a system for allowing group admins to change group members' email
addresses when necessary, and with a clear record of who has changed what.
Thanks for your questions, Pete. I hope you can appreciate that we only make
these things harder with reluctance, and with the benefit of site admins and
group members in mind.
Rest of post
cheers,
Dan
